The Rycroft family
Line and Horizon
Everything begins with the Rycroft family, based in Normandy, who have long been deeply attached to Aquitaine—a region where they have built countless memories and which has become an integral part of their lives. Lovers of wine and conviviality, Caroline and Fabien Rycroft have, over the years, developed a true memory of wine, interwoven with friends and loved ones. A certain art of living in the present, while cherishing every moment. A genuine sense of shared experience, sealed in emotion and flavor through the taste of wine. Members for several years of the club of a Right Bank château, they have developed a particular affinity for the Bordeaux vineyard, its culture, and its distinction. Through this connection, they discovered and acquired Château L’Insouciance in 2023, in the Saint-Estèphe appellation.
Its rare, elevated plot and its renowned appellation resonate with their appreciation for wines of power, history, and elegance. Born from the association of a group of friends, the Château bears the hallmark of friendship, and its name is a statement in itself. Evoking simple, suspended moments, it perfectly reflects their taste for the present moment and for sharing.
A new story
The new story that begins mirrors their own: shaped by encounters, momentum, and exchange.
The combined expertise of the assembled team, together with the benevolent trust of Caroline and Fabien Rycroft, creates a singular alchemy—the birth of something new. Free from traditional constraints and closely attuned to the specificities of the terroir, the vision of a distinctive wine takes form.
Guided by respect for and understanding of the land, composed primarily of Merlot and complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, it expresses the full personality of soils that bring together both typicity and atypicality within the appellation. Carefully managed, they allow the grape varieties to draw both substance and grace, while vinification—precise yet innovative—preserves freshness and smoothness.
